Don't let Eva Plays Dead's van die

Spende geschützt
On July 17th 2015 we released our new EP 'Sounds Of The Written Word' which was supported by a handful of UK dates in London, Nottingham, Cardiff and Glasgow.

We had been working on this release for 2 years so we were extremely excited when we started receiving positive reactions from the press, our fans, the PledgeCampaign we ran alongside the release and the gigs we played to launch the EP.

Ofcourse, in true 'Eva Plays Dead' style, something had to go wrong. En route home to Nottingham from the last show in Glasgow, our van shut down on the motorway around an hour north of Preston - a 4 hour journey became 11 hours as we waited for the roadside assistance company we're signed up with to come and rescue us and tow us to a local garage close to home. We had no sleep that night. We didn't get to our day jobs in time the day after, and we certainly were not looking forward to finding out what the bill was.

As it is, the van stopped working as the cylinder head had actually melted from overheating, due to a leak in the coolant pipe. When Ford converted our van to LPG, they removed the temperature gauge and therefore we had no idea how hot the engine was.

It will cost us around £500 to repair the van and get it back on the road. This would have been much more but we were lucky enough to find a new cylinder head for £50 providing we removed it from the engine ourselves with the help from a friend. 4 hours later with a load of sunburn  and we had it... Mechanic's labour is expected to be £450.

As an independent band, we pay for EVERYTHING ourselves. The PledgeCampaign we set up for the EP certainly helped subsidise our cost and we have money coming in from merchandise sales, gig fees and EP sales however all of this money is pumped directly back in to the band (alongside our personal money) to pay for...
-Recording
-Mastering
-PR
-Fuel
-Van Insurance
-Van Tax
-Merchandise printing
-Merchandise design
-Music Videos
-Photoshoots

Having just released the EP, we want to tour it as much as we can but we cannot do this in cars and we cannot afford to rent a van and driver each time we gig (we gig A LOT and all self drive vans we know of require a driver over 25. We are no older than 22) so we need to fix this van or we cannot tour.

We have no idea how people will react to this, particularly as it is straight after our PledgeCampaign for the EP but we NEED your help. Unfortunately we are not in the financial position to do this ourselves so we are asking for anything you can contribute towards fixing the van and getting us back on the road.

Please donate via GoFundMe and we will commemorate this by writing your name on the inside of our van door.

Or please head over to our online store  and pick up some merch if you'd like something else in return. All sales will contribute towards fixing the van.

Lots of love,

Tig, Matt, Zach and Seb x
