Funds for Austin

Donation protected
We are currently trying to raise funds for 20 year old Austin Lynn.  Austin was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy shortly after birth.  This has left Austin a quadraplegic.  Austin is unable to provide himself with any type of care.  Despite his diagnosis, Austin has refused to let that slow him down.  When Austin was in 3rd grade, he created a program called "Everyone counts," where Austin went around to different schools to talk about his disabilities and how this made him no different than anyone else.  Austin was a straight A honor roll student in regular classes, he joined JR ROTC, he was a bell ringer for the Salvation Army every year.  Sadly, in April of 2013,  at the age of 16,  Austin was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer.  Austin has had to have multiple surgeries in which they had to remove a total of eight inches from his tailbone and spine.  This makes it impossible for Austin to sit for extended periods of time without an extremely high level of pain.  Austin did 48 rounds of chemotherapy/radiation, his body could withstand no more, and he had to have a permanent colonostomy.   Austin is currently working on completing his GED at home from his hospital bed, despite what doctors have told him.  When Austin was told that he needed to rest and focus on his medical care due to the four years they have estimated him to live, Austin replied, "if I can't finish my GED in four years than something is wrong with me.  I need an education to buy a house and to raise and support my own family when I have one." Upon hearing those words, Austin's Mother, Kathie set out to help her son accomplish his goals and dreams of obtaining that GED.  Kathie had to have emergency heart surgery around Mother's Day, with two more following.  Kathie currently needs more surgery to repair the remaining damage to her heart, Kathie is having a hard time putting on the weight that will make this surgery possible.  Due to the diagnosis Austin has, and hers as well, it makes it impossible for Kathie to work outside of the home. Austin's father has never been apart of his life due to the Cerebral Palsy diagnosis following his birth.  I have had the opportunity to go to Austin's home and meet with his mother.  This young man needs a wheel chair ramp to get in and out of his home for proper medical treatment.  At this time Austin's wheel chair ramp is rotting so badly it is not salvageable and he needs a new one. Thanks to the phone call from a gentleman named Mark Montoya, the need of a new wheel chair ramp and a engine in Austin's vehicle he has to have for transportation have come to my attention.  I am asking that everyone make a contribution, no matter how small, so that this young man and his mother can stay focused on his medical care and the goals that he has made for himself despite the obstacles his medical conditions present to him.
