Ethan Christiano Eagle Scout Project

Hi! My name is Ethan Christiano and I am a Life Scout with Troop 180 currently working on my Eagle Scout Project. As a quick overview, I will be erecting a pergola and placing new gravel at the Boys and Girls Club of Las Cruces.  The Club, is a Non-Profit that allows children to grow and flourish as they enter adolescence and adulthood, offering an after school and summer program for kids, where they can do homework, engage in activities with other children, and learn to be leaders. The reason I chose to support this Non-Profit, is because of the major impact they have had on my life. I started going when I was 5 at the after school program at my school,  which eventually led to me being a member for 10 years. In this time I made many friends, memories, and had good times, as well as learning leadership values through some of their offered programs. Programs such as Youth of the Year and Torch Club are designed to help people grow and gain beneficial traits, and take part in important real world experiences.  A decade later, I would like to  return the favor for how much support they have given to me, and further I wanted to reflect and show the values and traits, especially as a leader, that I gained at The Boys and Girls Club. This project will bring new life to an area in front of one of their main buildings, providing protection from the extreme desert sun and another outdoors area for the members to congregate and enjoy.  I am hoping to raise funds for building installation, supplies, and materials by the end of April  to achieve my goal of project completion by Summer 2021. This is a project that I have been working on for multiple years and is dear to my heart, as this has been a lifelong goal that can be extremely beneficial for a group that supported me along the entire journey.
