Kylee's Story
Hi, my name is Kylee Freeman and I am 9 years old.  I was born with a rare medical condition that causes my optic nerves to be underdeveloped.  This causes me to not be able to see well, and causes me to face many challenges in my classroom.

My left eye has non-functional vision meaning it is not readable when it comes to testing.  My right eye with glasses is about a 20/280. If you saw me outside playing, you would probably not realize I had a hard time seeing.  But if you saw me in the classroom now that Im in 3rd grade you would see the difficulties I face with learning.  I use multiple tools and devices to see the board, homework, and references posted on my classroom walls.  I have an aid most of the day in class to help me since I have a hard time seeing words and letters.  I have been doing Braille since kindergarten, but it was decided that large print, keyboarding, and devices would be best for me.

My mommy found a device called the eSight.  This device allows me to see what my eyes are pointing at through a real time HD video feed.  It also plugs into any computer, which will bring anything from a computer monitor directly in front of my eyes. This will make me feel like I can learn with all of the other kids instead of always being multiple steps behind.  But, since this is a one of kind device for the visually impaired it is not covered by insurance and costs $15,000 .  I'm very excited for a tool that will help me see better, participate fully in my class, become more independent in my classroom work, and also complete activites as I grow like crossing the street and staying safe.

This device I will use throughout my life, and it will not have to be changed as I grow.

Thank you soooo much for taking the time to read and learn about my GoFundMePage story.

With my regular glasses on I see at : 20/280
With the eSight eyewear I saw: 20/50 !

I was able to read the 3rd line in the picture above with the eSight device!!!
