About Candice: a full-time Public Health Promotion graduate student, working part-time as a Registered Nurse, Certified Personal Trainer, and Registered Yoga Teacher.

Since becoming a Registered Yoga Teacher in 2014, I recently embarked on graduate studies at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa in the Fall of 2014. My initial course of study was in the field of Kinesiology, with a research focus on the acute effects of yoga on blood glucose dynamics in Type 2 Diabetics, particularly in those of African American descent. However over the course of my 1st year of graduate school, I learned that focusing my studies in the field of Public Health Promotion was more fitting for my research interest.
I was first introduced to yoga in my late teens and although having not developed a consistent practice until later in adulthood, I have always been drawn to the magnetic energy and health benefits of yoga. I found it to be a much needed balancing act to my other more athletic endeavors in life to include playing team sports, teaching aerobics and dance-fitness, practicing martial arts, running marathons, and fitness competitions.
About the India Trip: The initial planned trip to India with Lara Land of Land Yoga NYC fell through, however, I have not lost sight of planning for a later trip after the completion of my graduate studies.

The trip's purpose was to give me a hands on immersion into the culture of the country in which yoga originated in hopes to facilitate a deepeer foundation of appreciation and importance for my graduate research studies.
About Funding: Currently funds raised will go towards the completion of educational endeavors related to the completion of my graduate studies to include furthering my yoga practitioner education in becoming a Registered Yoga Therapist and Certified Health Education Specialist, with plans to pursue a later educational and cultural trip to India in the future upon graduation with a Masters of Arts in Health Studies and Public Health Promotion.
In Gratitude:
In appreciation for each individual who donates, I will send a special token of appreciation from India for your kind support of my journey and research.
