Ellis's Ohio Trip Medical Fund!

This is my amazing daughter Ellis, adopted at almost 4 years of age with the most severe form of spina bifida. She is an incredible little girl- smart, funny, full of life and honestly, a better tennis player than me! She is also the happiest person I have ever known. She has never been able to walk, which has never deterred her from accomplishing her goals or carrying out tasks that you and I take for granted every single day. She is requiring multiple surgeries for complications that arise from her medical condition, though, which is challenging emotionally, physically, and fiscally. This December we will travel to Ohio in order for one life changing surgery that is necessary for her health and well being. The team in Ohio has been very supportive in brainstorming ways to help us and suggested using this site to offset the costs of travel, housing and food while away for a full month during the winter, at that! (As southern girls, we are scrambling to prepare and are stock piling hand me down coats, scarves, hats, gloves and even snow boots).
Insurance unfortunately does not cover the travel costs to and from Ohio, nor our stay there. I am a single, full time working oncology nurse and mom to this incredible girl. Due to the nature of this particular surgery it is necessary that we live in Ohio for 4 weeks in order to be seen for frequent follow up after this surgery. The costs, honestly, are overwhelming.
I am exceptionally grateful to all those friends and family that are already helping- especially with the winter attire that we need. And I am indebted to everyone who considers donating even a small amount to help us stay afloat while we are far away, and to those who have sent money privately.
If we exceed our goal, it is my plan to set aside the extra amount of money to pay for the medical bills associated with this surgery in January when new deductibles will need to be met.
