** ALL DONATIONS WILL BE SENT DIRECTLY TO ELEANOR TROUSE! ** Thank you for supporting Eleanor! Please help spread the word by sharing this campaign on Facebook and Twitter. Thanks to Scott Joseph for the idea to set up a fund for Eleanor.
Disclaimer: GoFundMe makes it easy for a campaign to go viral and for people to donate, but the website keeps 7.9% of each donation. Donors aren't charged extra, but that percent is taken out of what Eleanor will get by GoFundMe for their overhead fee :/ If this slice off the top isn't cool with you, which would be understandable, please donate directly to Eleanor by mailing her a check! :)
Article by Desiree Stennett, Orlando Sentinel:
Even if you don't know Eleanor "Ellie" Trouse, if you frequent Orlando's College Park neighborhood, you've probably seen her.
She is the 70-year-old woman usually wearing a white baseball cap and a pair of jeans likely holding a small white shih tzu named Scooby in her arms as she takes her daily walks, said Marcia Kazmi, Trouse's longtime friend.
But around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2015, while walking along Lake Adair Boulevard near Westmoreland Drive, she was attacked by two men, Orlando police said.
The "passenger pushed her down asking for money," said Orlando Police Department spokeswoman Sgt. Wanda Ford. "They left in a dark colored car. They did not get anything from her."
Trouse was injured in the attack.
Trouse tried to run away but man yanked her down so hard twice that her arm was broken, according to Kazmi.
"She's a tough little cookie but she's so tiny," Kazmi said. "It's hard to believe anyone would think of attacking her ... She was so scared."
Trouse was scheduled to have surgery Thursday at Florida Hospital.
Trouse has no family and is very close to Kazmi's family. Trouse is a former Orlando Sentinel employee. She left the company in 2009 after about 46 years. She was an editorial clerk when she left.
In retirement, Trouse, a Michigan native who moved to Florida in 1958, works as a dog walker and dog sitter, Kazmi said.
Anyone with information about this attack is asked to call Crimeline at [phone redacted].
