Ellen's Victory Garden
Donation protected
Hello all!
I'm Ellen and I want your help to give someone a Victory Garden!
War gardens also known as “victory gardens” or “food gardens for defense” popped up during World War I and II at private residences and public parks in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and Germany. They were intended to boost civic morale also, encouraged with the hopes that gardeners would feel empowered by their labor contributions.
I am from a small town called Hillsborough, NC, and I have traveled across other countries and states. Through these travels I have developed a great appreciation for community involvement and access to healthy, fresh food- which led me to this organization and my studies in school. I am a junior at NC State University majoring in Anthropology (the study of people and cultures).
What I would really like to do through this organization is help someone help themselves through gardening. I want to help someone have access to fresh food right in their back yard.
I want to install a Victory Garden.
My goal is to realize my Victory by:
· Enabling someone to grow their own food
· Promoting community engagement
· Building community
· Gaining from and giving to something bigger than myself
· Going back to our roots
How You Can Help:
1. Donate!
2. Or donate and volunteer!
3. Spread the word and the interest!
