Eli was a wonderful 13 year old boy whose life as an adult looked very promising. Eli was a very well-liked young man who was involved in sports, of all kinds, for Collinsville High School as well as an active member of Collinsville Baptist Church. Great student, fun-loving, friend to all and very loved by his family and all who knew him. Eli was being raised by Nicole, a single mother of 4, who had returned to school to make sure her children would have better lives than she had, as well as bettering her own life. Nicole and her 4 children have been living with her mother in the house once owned by her great-grandparents in a tight-knit community.
Recently, Nicole became engaged to a wonderful man, Michael, and was just finishing her first year in an RN program. Life was looking good. On Sunday, May 17, 2015, they were at home when another family member was looking at a gun. It went off and Eli had been hit by the stray bullet. 911 was called immediately and Nicole began CPR, fighting to save her son's life.
Eli could not be saved.
Eli's family does not have the money to bury this child. They have not had his body returned yet, but are struggling to make funeral plans. There is no money, no insurance and, as of now, no hope of giving this child the burial that he deserves.
The family is hoping to raise enough money to bury Eli. Anything that may be raised, above the funeral costs, will be used as college funds for Eli's 16 year old sister and younger brother.
I am a distant cousin to Eli and am starting this fund at the family's request. Thank you for your help and may God bless you.
