Help Us Get Vet Care For Kittens!

Donation protected

UPDATE 9/27 - I found a clinic an hour away that will do the shots for $70 for all four kittens. They don't do testing for feline HIV/leukemia though, which is still going to be $35/per kitten at the vet. I've changed the goal to $200 and if we raise more we can get the momma cat fixed as well (which will be $40 at the clinic, versus $100 at the vet).

A couple of months ago, a cat showed up at my mom's house, heavily pregnant. My mom started feeding her and she ended up having the babies in a neighbor's shed. When they had barely opened their eyes, momma cat moved them into my mom's garage and we got to see them for the first time.

The kittens need basic veterinary care that none of us can afford for them. I spoke with the vet today. It’s going to be about $100 per kitten to get them their kitten shots/deworming/tested for feline HIV/leukemia. To get them fixed when they are six months old is going to be $60/each for the boys and $100 for the girl. If we only take our two kittens to the vet, we can probably afford it. But to take all four of them is going to be a lot more than we can do.

There are low cost spay/neuter programs in surrounding counties that we can look into when they reach that age. But there’s not much they can do for us about the cost of the 8 week visit, which will be about $400 for all of the kittens to get the care they need. Then we’ll worry about getting them fixed when they’re closer to the right age for that. If we raise more money than planned, we will use that toward getting the mother cat fixed and buying kitten food.

I don’t usually do this sort of thing, but these little cuties need vet care and I can’t do it all by myself. I paid $80 today for them to get medicine for an infection in their eyes.

The kittens are now approaching six weeks old. There are three boys and one girl. They've begun eating real cat food and momma cat has started the weaning process. My husband and I are planning to adopt two of the kittens, the little tan one which my mom lovingly named "Oddball", and the female grey one.

I hate to see these adorable animals go without seeing a vet. Every dollar helps! Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, and even if you can't help out with money, you can spread the word by sharing this on Facebook, Twitter, and tumblr! Every little bit is highly appreciated!
