Bad Financial Situation

My name is Lauryn, and in March I was diagnosed with lupus that has continued to grow in severity. I cannot stand for more than an hour or walk even a third of a mile to the pharmacy without having arthritis pain in my ankles. I'm losing my ability to physically write and type due to pain in my fingers and wrists. Honestly, I can't believe that I've reached a point that I feel the need to make a page like this. I am such an independent person and I have managed to make it on my own despite the odds for a very long time, but things have just stacked up too much against me. In April 2013 I moved to NYC with only a backpack, suitcase, and $600 to escape my physically violent parents that were threatning to leave me in homeless shelters, denying me medical care (I also am bipolar and have fibromyalgia), taking away my medications, and abusing me (mentally, physically, emotionally, and verbally). Before I had my lupus flare, I managed to support myself and attend college despite the two illnesses above and not having anything to my name.

But I've reached a point that I can't make it by sheer strength of will anymore. I am trying to get disability, but my hearing isn't until late October. I work from home, but my boss has been continuously lowering my hours until I was only working about 6-9 hours a week. Now he has asked me not to do any work at all until further notice. I am a student, but due to having incomplete classes from last semester (I was too ill to attend a lot of my exams) I was only allowed to be a part-time student. Thus my financial aid is limited, and I had been hoping to survive partially on that.

My medical bills are piling up, my doctor has put me on a sugar-free diet to try and help my pain issues, and I am not making enough to survive. I cannot go back home to my parents due to abuse and because they wouldn't help me medically anyway--leaving me to potentially be unmedicated, which could lead to organ complications.

I need some help until I can find another work-from-home job or get on disability. $1000 would pay my rent, let me pay for my medication, and manage doctor copays for two months. However, if I get anything I will be grateful and amazed because I know times are hard for almost everyone.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story, and I hope you have a wonderful day.
