Earth Ride -- Bike the Pipeline

To raise further awareness and discussion, and to show my dedication to protecting our earth--which involves opposing energy sources, such as the Keystone Pipeline, that I feel put our earth, clean air, clean water, and all our many relations at risk--I am biking from Texas to Alberta following the pipeline route and proposed XL route.

The Keystone Pipeline, when complete, will cover a distance of 2,151 miles (3,462 km) from Alberta Canada to the Gulf Coast. This is the distance I will cover. My own position is one in opposition to the Keystone Pipeline and all proposed expansions. Projects like Keystone place our earth in jeopardy, when we should instead be moving towards sustainable solutions.

I believe that, by embracing projects like Keystone, we are continuing down the wrong road. Reliance on fossil fuels and unsustainable energy consumption has placed our earth and future generations in harm's way. In the face of climate change, which is due in overwhelming part to anthropogenic sources, we must move towards environmental respect and responsibility immediately instead of seeking ways to perpetuate unclean energy sources. It is a time for change.

At a pace of 80 miles a day starting in mid-June, I hope to complete this distance in approximately 30 day's time with my wonderful teammate, Laurel Ohm. I need your support to go the distance--I am relying on the genoristy and kindness of others to help me achieve this endeavor. I would be so grateful for you to take a stand with me.

Money donated will go towards maintaining gear and travel costs. I am traveling light and as inexpensively as possible, but I will need your help to do it. Any funds left at the end will be donated to Honor the Earth.
