need to move to a safer place!

Donation protected
I have tried very hard not to set one of these up, but I am absolutely desperate at this point and I am really hoping that people will help out.

Earlier this year in March, I had to find a new place to live. It was short notice and I didn't have much saved up because it was unexpected. I ended up finding an apartment in a very sketchy part of the city because it was the only thing I could afford. I wanted to only be here for a few months, and find a roommate so we could move to a nicer area into a nicer apartment. I thought I had found a roommate in someone who turned out to have ulterior motives for wanting to move in with me (think: Nice Guy Syndrome), and now I am, for lack of a better term, royally screwed. He was here for all of three days then left without paying for his half of anything.

I still want to get out of here and move to a nicer neighborhood. What's so bad about this one, you ask?

On any given night, there are at least five different police incidents here. I have actually gone so far as to contact the police department to see how many calls there have been since I moved here. In the last six months, there have been almost 250 DIFFERENT incidents where the police have been called. I know that in my building alone, three of my neighbors have ended up in jail at least overnight for domestice abuse/violence, and drug-related charges.   upon further reading and investigation, I have found that there have been three murders here in the last three years, as well as countless assaults, burglaries, and rapes.

This is NOT a safe neighborhood to live in, and I have to get out before something happens to me.

I want to feel safe and secure, not constantly worried if tonight's going to be the night someone breaks in to my apartment.

I am looking to move to another suburb in a nicer area closer to my job. The ones I've applied at are all $800+ a month, plus an estimate of $200 for utilities. The money I'm asking for will be used for moving expenses, a deposit on a new apartment, and a couple months rent so I can use my current and immediate future paychecks to save up and be ahead on bills and rent, and not have to worry about being able to afford anything. I am also going to need to pay a fine of a full month's rent plus deposit (almost $1000) to break the lease, as well as pay off the rent and bills for this month that my roommate was supposed to pay for.

Absolutely everyone who donates will get something. I ask for addresses because if you hit the donation levels, you'll get something hand knitted and personalized from me. Even if you don't donate at a level, I will still send out a thank you card with a small gift (most likely baked goods!) as a token of appreciation.

I am desperate to get out of this apartment and into a place where I don't live in fear. I want to be closer to my job so I don't spend almost $300 a month on public transportation and gas. I want a nicer apartment where the management actually cares about tenant safety and security. I want to live somewhere where the cops don't show up at least twice a night.

Even if you can't donate, I do ask that you please share this link.  The more people see it, the better the chances I can move out of here and not end up stuck here for another year.

If you are uncomfortable using GoFundMe for whatever reason, you can donate directly to my PayPal account at [email redacted].

Thank you.
