Many of you don’t know about my father, Deogracias Asuncion. He is a world class cycling competitor that has competed in the 1982 Asian Games, and the 1984 Olympic Games representing the Philippines. In 2007, I had the privilege of seeing him compete for the first time at the 2007 UCI World Track Championships, held at the Home Depot Center in Southern California. It was such a thrilling and humbling experience seeing him compete against younger athletes, but at the same level. Due to recent successes, my father was once again invited to compete in the upcoming World Masters Track Cycling Championship held in Manchester, United Kingdom this October. Because of the suddenness of this event, it has led to some challenges regarding fund raising in order for my father to compete at this international event.
Up to this point between a corporate sponsor and family donations, my father has been able to come up with half of the cost of competing in the upcoming Championships. We are looking for any help possible to come as close to the additional $7,000.00 in order to help him achieve his goal of competing at the World Masters Track Cycling Championships. My family and I appreciate any support that you can give.
