I wanted to add a comment about Tim regarding what has been happening in his personal life over the past couple weeks. Tim has received a tremendous amount of support from his friends, family, strangers within the community, from his beloved Kansas City Royals and beyond. He has had multiple interviews televised on TV and on Wednesday he was interviewed on the Royals pregame show by Joe Goldberg and Jeff Montgomery. As I watched the interview on Wednesday it was hard to hold back the tears, but at the same time I was extremely happy for Tim. He is in the battle of his life, but at the same time having some of the best days of his life. Tim was able to go on the field and meet with some of the players before the game including Alex Gordon, Mike Moustakas, Ned Yost and more.
It is so easy in life for us to focus on the negatives and what we don’t have, but when you sit back and look around life is great. Tim is a great example for all of us to follow. No matter how hard life gets there is always something to look forward to and we have to enjoy and make the best out of each and every day.
Tim is currently healing up from his surgery that was performed last Wednesday August 27th. He is waiting on test results to see if the cancer has any type of mutations, which will determine the type of chemo/treatment that will be performed in the near future. He is scheduled to meet with doctors at KU Med over the next week and is most likely going to a facility in Houston Texas MD Anderson. Tim will start Chemo at the end of September or early October.
Tim is 28 years young and was recently diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma cancer that has spread to his lungs, liver and spine. Even with the terrible prognosis that he may have 12-18 months to live with a 5% chance of recovery Tim remains extremely upbeat and he is determined to fight and enjoy each day. Tim recently underwent surgery to remove what cancer they could. Once he is fully recovered from the surgery he is scheduled for chemotherapy and ongoing treatment.
For those of you that have had the pleasure to get to know Tim over the years you know that he is one of a kind. He is generous and kind hearted with a great sense of humor. He is a special person with an upbeat attitude and incredible spirit. Tim has a great deal of friends and family supporting him, but he needs our help now more than ever. The cost of ongoing treatment is going to be a tremendous financial burden for Tim and his family, so any financial donation is greatly appreciated.
Tim wanted me to add “Go Royals and let’s get KC back in the playoffs.” “Thank you for all the help and support.”
