Medical Bills

As some of you know and many of you don’t know, Deputy Andy Fowler has been hospitalized for the past several days.  In speaking with his wife while I visited, she described a medical condition that was not good and changing for the worse by the day.  As of yet there has not been an official diagnosis other than swelling on the brain.  He is currently being treated proactively for meningitis and encephalitis, and will continue too be until the test results return.  Initially he had lost feeling on the entire right side of his body and had severe pain in his head.  He has had multiple state of the art tests completed on him and has a great neurologist.  He is currently having vision loss, severe deficiency or a total lack thereof in his fine and gross motor skills, exhaustion, memory loss, confusion in the way he processes his environment and his logic, and his speech is also quite limited.  Right now he is at Piedmont in the women’s tower in room 316, but I do not know how long he will be there for since he has already been moved once.  I know we always talk about the Sheriff’s Office as a family, and that in times of need, whether on duty or off duty, we are there for one another.  Assistance in these times can take many forms such as prayer, kind gestures, financial assistance etc.  I know that Andy and his family are practicing Christians and that they would welcome any and all prayers.  In further speaking with Andy’s wife she mentioned to me the new financial burden that the Fowler family will be facing from these continuing medical costs and she was very concerned.  I would like to be able to remove this burden, or at least alleviate some of the concerns, so his family may be focused on a treatment and recovery.  They are unaware of this gift that they will be receiving.  However,  I would like to make them aware of the kindness, support, and generosity that his family, friends, and the York County Sheriff’s Office has to offer.  I will share any updated information on Andy’s condition as soon as it becomes available.
