Once upon a time a woman married a man and moved to Murfreesboro. She brought her children and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Kitty Horde (TMNKH) with her. In 2011 he left her and they subsequently divorced. What is the Teenage Mutant Ninja Kitty Horde? It all started back in 1988 when Kat and her previous husband adopted a stray six week old black kitten who had broken his leg. They named him Christopher and he was the founding member of the Horde (he passed away at 16). Over the years other cats have been rescued, some going to other homes whilst some have crossed the bridge until now the TMNKH consists of five:
StarWalker BitCat the ComputerKitty - born May 8, 2001, he was found by my ex before my ex (my children's father, I have two, Corwyn who is 18 and has bipolar/ADD/Asperger's Syndrome and Jennifer who is 21 and has bipolar/ADD/severe Anxiety Disorder) while taking a walk with a friend. Kent came home with his hands cupped, walked into the bedroom where I was laying down (I have bad knees, one of the reasons I'm disabled, my last pain-free day was in Oct 1988) and said, "You're going to be mad at me." I asked why and he tilted his hand showing two kittens, one black and one tabby, both covered with fleas and dried tuna. I sent him to the store for kitten milk and bottles whilst our friend bathed the kittens in the sink with our children's help. Star was given his name because his favorite place was to sit with me at the computer and play with the cursor. He'd move the mouse to make the cursor move. Star was the eighth cat in the Horde at the time. We found a home for his sister. He is the eldest of the TMNKH.
Stormageddon aka Stormy (neé Mister Knives aka Mister Kitten) - July 31, 2006, Stormy came to us as a kitten when he was adopted by my ex-redheaded step-child. She left him with us when she moved out and never took him back. When my ex left he didn't take him and even though his daughter moved in with him she didn't want her cat back. It's probably just as well, Stormy has decided that I'm his mom and Corwyn is his boy. He is the largest of the Horde weighing in at 15-19 lbs without any of it being fat. He is Audrey's Arch-Nemisis.
Lady Audrey Nova StarWatcher - July 11, 2010, Audrey came to us from a private cat rescue in IL, Winnie's Wishes. Chrystal only rescues cats who cross her path (or that of her daughters) but she does an amazing job! Audrey's brother had been adopted to Canada and after that she started having trouble interacting with the other cats in the cathouse. Chrystal tried to find her a home where she'd be the only cat but alas, to no avail. Finally I offered to give her a home where she would be cherished, with fewer cats and with someone who is used to dealing with integrating cats on a regular basis. Chrystal was ecstatic! She let me know, that as with all of her adoptions, that if it didn't work out she would take Audrey back. But soon Audrey was a firm member of the Horde (except for Stormy, it has taken nearly two years for them to become friends).
Da Orphans aka Da Twins aka Da Babies as kittens August 3, 2012
Dame Rose Tyler of Hogwarts has grown to be a fine young lady. As you can see, all of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Kitty Horde cats are leash trained. We think it's important because it makes it easier to take them to Da Vet plus that way they can go out on the ramp/porch and hang out in the sunshine. If we had the funds we'd build a catio in the backyard!
Sir Merlin Fuzzybutt is as big as his brother Stormy now!! He's finally grown (or mostly grown) into his huge paws now. It's obvious that there was some Maine Coon in his heritage. ::grin:: However it's his sister who loves to play in water, not him!! She loves baths whilst he would rather stay on dry land! And when it's cold you'll find her outside whilst he stays inside wondering if the Feeders are going to make cocoa! When Merlin was about nine months old he had a seizure. Six months later he had two more right in a row! Mom was really scared both times and rushed him to the vet. The second time she scraped up the (OMBast!) money and had his blood tested. Merlin has epilepsy. He now takes phenobarbitol on a daily basis to keep his epilepsy in check and hasn't had a seizure since (that anyone has seen anyway!).
The Feeders
Mom - has fibromyalgia, chronic myofascial pain, chronic fatigue syndrome & chronic migraines (that's it thus far!). She's 53 (as of August 19, 2013) and loves to read. Mom's been on disability since 2009. Mom has a CafePress shop (which unfortunately doesn't seem to get any traffic) featuring her graphics and also makes necklaces for Jennifer's etsy shop.
Jennifer - has bipolar, ADD, severe anxiety disorder & patella nail syndrome (she blames mom). She's 21 (as of August 10, 2013... came home on mom's bday when she was a baby) and also loves to read. Jennifer is working on her anxiety so she can go back to school. She has a new etsy shop called Beauty of Serenity. It has necklaces made by her mom and pendulums made by her. She leash trained Rosie herself because she is Rose's Person.
Corwyn - has bipolar, ADD & Asperger's Syndrome. His knees are fine! (He takes after his dad.) He turned 18 on March 24th of 2013 (same birthday as his dad) and yes, he's also a bookworm. He comes by it honestly. Corwyn also loves video games and Yu-Gi-Oh. He plans to attend Southern Illinois University and study Vocal Music. He sang every male voice part during his high school career.
What We're Trying to Do - We've been living in the same house since the divorce. Mom's ex is willing to sell the house for $130,000 which is what he owes on it. Mom can get financing for $60,000 (crossing fingers) but we still need $70,000 to make up the difference. We will also need to fix up the house. It needs new flooring in the bedrooms, bathrooms, hall and downstairs. Eventually we'd like to put in a half bath downstairs so we can have a roommate. The kitchen counter is old and needs replacing. The kitchen cupboard doors need replacing. The air unit for downstairs isn't blowing air right and we're not sure why. We also have a lot of landscaping that needs to be done. Add to that the vet bills and Geez Louise! But we love the house and it's the only home that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Kitty Horde (with the exception of Star) have ever known. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
