David French Bacon III was born on November 26, 1940 in Natchez, Mississippi. He passed away on April 17, 2015 in Indianapolis, Indianapolis due to complications from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. The nerve cells loose the ability to communicate and control muscles throughout the body. The progressive degeneration of the motor neurons in ALS eventually leads to paralysis and death.
David faced his illness with uncommon courage, dignity and determination. He spent much of his life helping others, and we believe it a fitting tribute that we collect donations in his name so that others afflicted with ALS can find assistance in their time of need. 100% of the proceeds of your contribution will be donated in David's name to the IUPUI School of Medicine's ALS Research Fund.
