#Desie2Korea Summer Abroad 2015!

모두 안녕하세요!
Hello, everyone! My name is Desiaire Rickman and I am a fourth-year Ohio State University student learning Korean!
Studying abroad has always been a goal of mine while at OSU. As a diligent student, I decided to postpone this dream until I finished all of my requirements for my Journalism major and East Asian Studies minor.
Last summer, I started learning Korean because I was infatuated by South Korea's culture and entertainment. I have absolutely enjoyed studying the language and I am eager to practice it in a cultural setting. At this point, after studying for a solid year, I have studied hard enough to where reading and writing hangul, the Korean writing system, are almost second nature to me. Vocabulary expansion, grammar and speaking are what I am working on now.
This past Spring, one of my favorite professors recommended me to apply for a new study abroad scholarship that will cover tuition and dormitory fees at a South Korean university. I would only be financially responsible for my plane tickets and meal plan. I applied even though I didn't believe I would get chosen. Well, I was proven wrong when I was accepted to participate in the Yonsei International Summer Program at Yonsei University.
Yonsei University is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in Seoul, South Korea's capital. I will take courses there and study Korean for six weeks.
I am beyond excited that I was chosen, but because the notice came so close to the start of the program, I was only able to afford a one-way ticket to South Korea. I am currently working two jobs to start saving up for my trip, but the return ticket is what I need to buy next. Unfortunately, return tickets from Seoul to Columbus are expensive, so I am going to need some help.
As this will be the first time I will be traveling out of the United States, this program is a dream come true and anyone who is willing to contribute or donate to this fund, no matter the amount, will forever have my gratitude and the promise to pay it forward to my friends who also need financial assistance in their study abroad trips. Whatever I raise in this next month will only go towards funding my first international experience.
