Hello Family, Friends and Colleagues. As you may know, Dempsey John Markey, beloved and known by many as “DJ,” passed on January 10, 2023. He is survived by his son, Russell John Markey, and was predeceased by his wife Ursula Arceneaux Markey, and son Duane John Markey.

This sudden and unexpected loss has left Russell in a vulnerable situation, as he is an adult with Asperger Syndrome (an autism spectrum disorder) and will need various support services and resources to thrive in the long term. His parents, Ursula and DJ, worked tirelessly on behalf of families with disabilities for several decades in New Orleans through their organization, Pyramid Community Parent Resource Center, and now we want to support Russell at this time. Your contribution will help cover the cost of funeral expenses for DJ and provide funds to support Russell for the next several months to a year, as his family investigates and determines the options for Russell's future.

Note: A private service will be held for DJ. A public memorial celebrating his life and work will be held near his birthday in May.
