A Voice for Deaf Refugees

Friends, colleagues and future unknown donnors, could you imagine being a deaf person in living in refugee or displaced camps or striving through natural disasters or war zone in developing countries? Well I have lived half my life through and I know first-hand how hard it can be. During my Graduate studies at the University of San Diego's Joan B. Kroc School of Peace Studies, I was given the provileges to explore the current situation faced by other millions of deaf men, women and children in developing countries.
There are unnacounted millions of deaf refugees all over the world and currently, the United Nations High Commissariat on Refugees (UNHCR) and almost all international humanitarian organizations do not possess any system or procedures to properly identify refugees who are deaf and provide them with proper humanitarian services or protections.
In fact, deafness, unlike other form of disabilities, is hardly noticed and this can increse the vulnerability of deaf people in refugees camp and war zones especially deaf women and children.
Fortunate to have grown through this, I am eager to start this campaign in advocating for the rights fo deaf refugees in Developing countries and globally. The World Federation of the Deaf has recently accepted my proposal and I will be presenting at the WFD World Congress that is happening this July in Istanbul, Turkey.
I am asking you to support me with the cost of this trip from San Diego to Istanbul and related expenses for one week (3 days of traveling and 4 days at the Congress).
