Raising Awareness Bicycle Tour

After graduation, we (Payton Dwight and Drew Harvey) will be bicycling across the country from San Diego, California to Sag Harbor, New York to raise awareness for opioid drug abuse. Two years ago Drew lost one of his best friends, Mike Semkus, from his hometown of Sag Harbor to a misuse of prescription opioids; and as we all know in the USD community just last year we lost a dear friend and classmate, Anthony Grasso, to the same. We are doing this ride in remembrance of these two great people that left us far too early. With this trip, we plan to raise money for a local USD foundation called the “Anthony Grasso Foundation,” and to build a memorial in Mike’s name. The “Anthony Grasso Foundation” is currently working on building a safe space on campus for those troubled and in need of guidance, and assistance on the peer to peer level. In the memory of Mike Semkus, who was constantly pushing himself both physically and mentally in the realm of athletics, an outdoor workout area in his name will be built at the local park in Sag Harbor, New York.
