Our 14 year old son Darryl E. J. Deaton (DJ ) has BRAIN CANCER and can't see, he is in Cincinnati Children's Hospital.
NEW UPDATE ON DARRYL E. J. DEATON (DJ):
Well, Friends and Family. We just got back from a very long day at the HOSPITAL with meetings with DR'S and CPA'S AND NR'S and SOCIAL WORKER'S and also MSW, LSW..... We had a lot of paper work to go through with them and to see what kind of help that they can do and give DJ. Also to see what is next with him and what they are going to do to him next and has we said our son has a 50/50 chance to over come this, it's just his sight is what they don't know about at this time cause he has went blind in one eye and can't see anything but white spots out of the other one. He is not doing good with this part of things and is asking if he will be able to see again and tell you what this just kills me to see him and hear him asking about all of this. The social worker told us today that DJ told her the other day that he did not understand what happen to him and did not know what was going on with him and why. She told us that he said that all he know was that one day he was okay than the next day he could not see and than he was in the HOSPITAL having his head cut on and now I am here for ever and I want to go back home, I want to go back to my house, I miss my brothers and my dogs. She said this got to her in a very deep way so she has team up with the DR'S and a lot of others to try to get him the help that he needs to get him well and to see to it that he gets what he wants and needs. We were told that we have a very good little boy and they all think a lot of him and am doing there best to make all of this has easy has they can on him and us his FAMILY. I tell you all that it broke my heart today watching him trying to do his REHAB cause he could not see anything and to see him trying to see to eat his candy that the SOCIAL WORKER brought him today and yes she got him to SMILE today. AMY is this lady name and she has took a very good liking to him and must say that there is another person that is a his nurse that is a male and he also can get him to SMILE. I must say that our son is in the very best of hands with all of the DR'S and with all of the STAFF at CINCINNATI CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL..... I can not leave out that he has got the best thing of all on his side and that would be our LORD AN GOD cause with out this our son DJ would not be here with us today. Well, he has to have a SHUNT put in him tomorrow at around 11am and this will have to stay in him for all of his life cause of the pressure in his brain. His brain can't release and drain the way it use to do any more so this will help with all of this to make things work like they should. He also has to go in the O-R next week to see if they and do anything for he sight. They told us that there was some different things and treatments that they were going to try on him to get him to see if not a 100% than at least 50% this way he would be able to live a half normal life and do things for him self. DJ, is learning to walk and to use his hands again and has to learn to do things in other ways now. He is and says he is feeling okay and is not having much pain with all of this but he gets tried easy. The DR'S and everyone in the staff told us that he is doing good and he should come out and get over all of this but he and we all do know that our little boy will not be at a 100% but we are very happy to just still have him with us and we love him very much and will do all that we can to help him with all of this..... We all just have to learn how to do new things and live our life's in a different way. We were told that he has a very long and hard road in front of him but should be okay. He will not be able to go back to school or do anything that he was doing this year and we don't know if he will ever be able to draw again and he did love doing that and that is what he was hoping to do in his life was to be a ARTIST and to be just 14 years old he was very good at it..... Well, we do have one or two more big meetings to go to on all of this, one on next Tues and than one the week after that than am hoping that he will get to come home. We were told if everything keeps going good and the next two OPERATION go well and the RADIATION TREATMENTS GO GOOD and can kill this CANCER and can get it to go away and if he keeps doing good than and that he will get to come back home. I do know that we all miss having him here at home with us and his little brother said that he can't wait till he can come back home that he is missing him very much and wants to see him again. He told me today before he went to school that he is all ready to help him do what ever it took to help his brother. He said dad I am also going to live with DJ and take care of him when we get big and that just hit home in my heart..... Well, DJ is going to need 24/27 hours care when he gets to come home at first and we all know and been told this and he will have a CPA and a SOCIAL WORKER that will be coming to look in on him for some time when he comes home also. Well, I don't know but think that I got everything covered has what's going on with our son DJ..... I am on some meds to help me get a hold on all of this and to help me get back on the right road with this and yeah, me and the wife are very very tried and are trying to be with DJ everyday and to take care of our two other boys. It's very hard to keep all of this up when you can't sleep at night cause all you can do is think about your little one in the HOSPITAL with tubes coming out of his little head and him being away from home at night. Also worrying your self sick over all of the bills and what is going to be cut off and what is not, you know you can only do what you can and yeah guess a lot of people just don't understand what this is all about and how much that it can hurt you and just STOP YOUR WORLD FROM TURNING!!!!! This hit me very very hard and I just loss it just went out of my damn mind..... I am still going nuts when ever the phone rings for thinking that something is wrong with my son. Well, I do hope and Pray that any of this will never happen to any of you out there in Facebook land and has always we do THANK YOU ALL FOR ALL OF YOUR PRAYING FOR OUR SON DJ. GOD HAS ALWAYS I AM STILL PRAYING FOR YOU TO KEEP OUR SON OKAY AND KEEP LOOKING OVER HIM AND PLEASE LET OUR LITTLE BOY BE ABLE TO SEE AGAIN VERY SOON FOR HE DON'T KNOW WHY HE CAN'T SEE.....
