Help My Dream: English in Korea!!

Donation protected
Hi everyone!

My name is Danielle Nicole Harvey and I am 26 years old. My story has rough patches all over it, but it would mean a lot of you would take the time to read it.

Over the past few years, I have been struggling with health issues. I have gone from doctor to doctor, being sent every direction possible based on misdiagnosis, confusion, finding the right doctor, etc. Finally, as of late, a new doctor figured out what was causing my symptoms; I have poly-cystic ovarian syndrome with insulin resistance, fibromyalgia and neuropathy.

All of my money has gone to medical bills or used for copays at appointments with my doctors.

I haven't been able to save money for anything for myself, ever.

When I went to University prior to graduating in 2012, I never felt well enough to pursue friendships or relationships and slept constantly, only getting up to go to class. I would sleep for hours and hours and never feel rested or good about myself. I have lost many years of my life to feeling fatigued, depressed and just miserable. Some of it was from the PCOS hormone imbalance, but I have also been through a mentally and physically abusive relationship with my "first love" and losing my dad to cancer in 2009; I was 21 when he died. Since then, my family has never been the same and being around them and the negativity is very unhealthy for me.

Luckily, I have started making the right choices and taking the medication to help with my PCOS and I am looking for a fresh start on life!

In high school, I was really inspired by an English teacher I had. Honestly, I believe teachers have the ability to solely inspire a child/student to accomplish their dreams. I learned of my love for words and language itself, realizing it was something I wanted to focus on when furthering my education. I excelled at anything and everything to do with words - even words written in a foreign language. I was the top Spanish student in my class and in college I would go on to study French.

A few years ago, I passed a formal test that revealed I have the ability to learn languages a bit faster than the average person. I also have been very passionate with everything pertaining to the English language since I can remember; my bachelor's degree is in Writing and Linguistics. I love children and children have always liked me for some reason. I seem to have endless patience with them and when teaching them, I take personal responsibility for their success in learning. Linguistically speaking, I have very much loved learning other languages as well. Something that has interested me is the thought of teaching abroad in another country and inspiring students while at the same time learning a language myself. I truly believe I have what it takes to make learning English fun.

I have done my research and already have been communicating with a company to go through and have found the place I want to teach. I have chosen Korea, as I have an appreciation for their culture and am attracted to the benefits they offer their foreign teachers.

I need to get out of the emotionally toxic situation I am in with my family and go on to start my own life. I love traveling, seeing new things and I don't mind going on my own path. I really need this and I would love to be able to do it.

I have all of the basic requirements and have been asked if I would be available to leave for Korea as soon as February 20th of 2015. The only obstacle I have is money; I don't have a savings to rely on until my first paycheck abroad. I also, due to my weight fluctuations with PCOS, don't have the appropriate attire to dress like a respectful teacher. I don't really have any clothes that fit at all.
I would also like to take the TEFL class online and get the certification. It will help me teach better and I will get a higher salary once I get there.

This is what I need to get started on my own and enjoy life...the life I have been sleeping away due to physical, mental and emotional exhaustion. It would really mean a lot to me if this goal was reached. It's the only thing I have to look forward to.

Thank you all for reading.

Dani
