I'm a Portland, OR-based university student who does social justice education and advocacy around race, class, gender, and other issues.
I am planning to participate in a rideshare to Ferguson, MO next week, and I want to make sure that I and the others will be fed and supplied, and that we will have supplies to bring to residents. Hopefully, this situation will have reached a peaceful conclusion by then, but we obviously can't rely on that.
I am asking you to help us get there and back home, to make sure we are able to eat, and allow us to take supplies down with us, depending on the needs of the community. If you can give anything, I know that I and my friends will be grateful. We are committed to working for change, and supporting residents in their quest for a peaceful, just resolution to the situation.
Money donated will pay for gas and travel costs, food, medical supplies if necessary, and other supplies for rebuilding, cleaning up, protecting community members, and supporting them in advocating for themselves and each other.
