Help Kelly Study Abroad in Italy

Donation protected
My name is Kelly Miller and I am currently an undergraduate at the University of South Florida studying psychology and behavioral healthcare. Upon finishing my undergraduate studies, I hope to attend graduate school and eventually become a substance abuse counselor.

I have the opportunity to study in Florence and Venice over a ten day span during Spring Break of 2015. In Italy, I would be studying global perspectives in the treatment of mental illnesses at the beautiful Florence University of the Arts.

Here's my story. I come from a big family, being the last of seven kids. I'm lucky enough to have had parents that care a great deal about education (my dad passed away seven years ago). I can remember my parents encouraging me to read the Harry Potter series at six years old. I am the first person in my immediate family to attend a university. Since I come from such a large family, money has always been an issue. I have a full courseload and also work 30 hours a week to support myself independently. Because of my performance in high school, I was lucky enough to receive the Bright Futures scholarship, which pays a partial amount of my tuition at USF. In addition, I also receive the Pell Grant and some loans. Unfortunately, however, these funds are not enough to help me study abroad.

Your donations would support this once in a lifetime opportunity as well as the costs for airfare (upwards of $1,400), passport fees (upwards of $150), program costs (upwards of $2,500 which includes accommodations, International Health Insurance, airport pickup and drop off, student services fees, Academic activites and excursions, and special dinners), meals, and 3 undergraduate credit hours.

I'm not expecting anything from this, but your donation would mean the world to me. I'm asking for my friends, family, and my community to help me experience this trip of a lifetime that would expand my knowledge on a field that I truly care about! I promise to update you, share pictures, tell stories about what I learn, and to succeed in my studies.

I'm honestly grateful if you've just read through this entire post. Financial troubles have constantly been my biggest fear, but I don't want that to get in the way of participating in this program and getting out of my comfort zone. If you can't donate, I completely understand. Even five dollars would blow me away. I promise to make vegan chocolate chip cookies for everyone that donates :')
