I'm Jeremy Barker. My goal is to raise money to start a thriving 3D scanning and printing company to serve the Middle Georgia area. The goals for the business are two-fold: first, to work with local museums and cultural heritage centers to 3D scan their scientific and historical collections to enhance education and to advance their research, and second, to provide 3D scanning and printing services to local businesses and indivual consumers.
For my first goal, I'm working with the Prisoner of War museum in Andersonville, Georgia, and the staff at the Ocmulgee National Monument in Macon, Georgia. The long term benefits of these projects will include providing 3D scans and prints of historic artifacts to the public to increase cultural heritage awareness, preserve and display fragile or sensitive artifacts that would normally be unavailable for study, and in the case of the ONM, use my expertise to study the effects of long-term nearby railroad traffic on the Earth Lodge. This is a long term goal that will require a lot of funding, much of which will come from grants.You can see some of my works in progress on my Sketchfab profile.
For my second goal, I plan to offer my services as an expert in 3D scanning and printing to the public! I will be able to scan participants and then print full color figurines that can be used in many different ways. For instance, custom wedding cake toppers, 3D portraits of friends and family members (and even pets!), and deeply personalized mementos the celebrate special occasions can all be scanned and printed. I will also provide my services for fund-raising events and charities. This goal can be achieved in a mucher shorter time period than the first goal, and as such will be able to support the project financially when grants are not available.
Your donations will help me build the start up capital I need to begin. While the initial amount of $30,000 may seem steep, it will cover all equipment needs to get started with both goals at once. However, I can start working on my second goal now with $5,000 and the equipment I have on hand at present. I am also looking for more serious investors. If you would like a share in the company, please contact me!
