Hello everyone, Thank you for taking the time to read this! We're Rob and Elizabeth Stokes. We are trying raise the funds to adopt a baby here in the United States. We have two children, a daughter who is six and a son, three. We believe that all children should grow up in and have a loving home with a family and know the feeling of being loved and nurtured. We also believe that children should know the love of God and his son, Jesus, who died for the sins of all mankind.
We have thought long about adoption versus trying to have a baby "naturally". Elizabeth has had many complications during all of her pregnancies, one major being Preeclampsia/Eclampsia resulting in the early births of our oldest daughter and our son, born six weeks early. Our second daughter Grace was born with Anencephaly (her brain did not develop) and died shortly after birth.
We believe God has led us to adopt because we have so much love in our hearts and home to share with children who are in need of a loving family. Elizabeth and I are currently completing our home study with Choosing Hope Adoptions in Springfield, Ohio.
The adoption process itself can be long and drawn out as we will be matched with a birth mother instead of a waiting child. Our hopes are to be matched in the coming year however as with everything in life, it's all in God's hands. Our family can be placed with a mother anywhere in the United States. We could get a call at midnight to take the red eye to California. I will know more as we dive deeper into the process.
The process with this agency is we have to complete a pre-application which costs $25, then an application which will cost us $50. State law requires us to complete a homestudy which will cost an estimated $1,000. Praise! We have completed or are nearly completing the above steps. As we are doing a semi-open adoption we are asked to complete a family profile. A sort of scrapbook describing our family history and explaining our want to adopt in much greater detail than what I have listed above. The family profile, since we are asking assistance and want to make it amazing (and have no idea how to complete it), costs approximately $350. The remainder of the money we need will go to cover possible birth mother healthcare, the baby's fee, plane tickets, legal and court fees, and agency fees.
We have completed two yard sales raising $1,400! God is so good! Our homestudy will take approximately three months to complete then God willing will be placed quickly with a birth mother.
