West Oakland Cyclist Hit & Robbed

Donation protected
Hello Friends,

Not sure if you heard about this story on the news yet, but I hope you'll take a moment to listen.

Earlier this week, 25-year-old Gregory Lowrie was riding his bike to a health clinic in Oakland to receive treatment for his severe heart condition.  Afterward, he had planned to meet up with his mom at the food bank.

At some point, he was hit by a truck and was knocked off his bicycle.  While he was laying on the ground unconscious, a group of people robbed him. Additionally,  while the 81-year old driver of the truck that hit him was trying to provide help, he was robbed as well. [WHO DOES THIS???!!!]

From what I understand from the news reports, Gregory and his mother Margaret fell on hard times a few years ago.  They lost their home in Berkeley and have been living in an RV close to where the accident took place.  Also according to the news, Gregory suffered a brain injury, broken bones and organ damage. He is in critical condition.  I can't imagine this will be an easy recovery, especially given his existing heart condition.

I was incredibly saddened when I heard that people would take advantage of someone who was injured during an accident and rob them while they were unconscious, but I was moved to action when I came to understand the rest of the story. From that, I decided to create this campaign.  I am not someone who typically fundraises or asks for donations,  but I feel like I need to put some goodness out into the world and combat the evil of those who would steal from someone who was lying in the street, hurting.

The goal of my campaign is to raise money for the Lowrie family - both Gregory and his mother  - to help them pay for medical bills or other expenses that will undoubtedly arise due to this tragedy.  I will be donating the first $100, and I hope that you will consider donating as well.   I am in touch with someone who has been in touch with the family, and I will be working with him to get the money to them when the campaign is complete.

Thanks in advance for your generosity and your support of this cause.  Any amount will make a difference - whether it is $5.00 or $25.00 or whatever amount you choose.  Thank you for making a difference in someone's life at a time when they are struggling.
