My friends Gwyd and Squirrel are roommates, two awesome friends of mine, who could use some help. In the time I've known them, they've always been there to help out, whether with errands, a move, a difficult time, or just to hang out.
Due to circumstances out of their control, they need help with property taxes, housing fees, and car insurance. Squirrel is recovering from his own health issues and resultant bills, along with the loss of his cat Fuzzybutt to illness last year. He works, but because the cat's condition cleaned out his savings, money is tight right now.
Gwyd is unable to work due to mobility issues and chronic pain caused by ankylosing spondylitis and cystic fibrosis carrier syndrome. This first appeared in zir teens and became crippling in zir mid-30s. Ze has two Masters degrees, in Medieval History and in Secondary Education, and spent eight years teaching at several schools before zir illness became too much to manage while working. Ze has also recently lost one of zir cats, Mache, to a fast-growing mouth cancer.
Gwyd is a very knowledgeable person and one way ze spends zir time is aggregating news and political information on tumblr, with an interest in marginalized groups who aren't well-covered. Gwyd and Squirrel live in a condo (a small two bedroom apartment purchased with an inheritance). Shortly after they moved in, due to paperwork error, they neither received notification that the monthly fees for their home were doubling, nor that the automatic monthly withdrawls were not processing correctly. Due to the rise of the monthly fee, Gwyd's monthly disability payment leaves zir with very little to cover other expenses once that bill is paid. Ze is working on looking into various potential solutions for assistance, but it's still a sticky situation.
Before the problem was discovered, Gwyd used the remainder of the inheritance on surgery. When ze found out what was going on, ze was not able to get a refund on that, and had to make the decision to follow through and work on another solution for coming up with these unexpected expenses.
The property manager has been helpful in working with them to correct the problem and has waved late fees, etc, but the result is still a large unexpected expense that both my friends have been struggling to pay. Despite their best efforts, they aren't able to cover some things they need to pay for their home and car. Here's the breakdown of this fundraiser:
$700 - property taxes owed on the condo
$1,200 - back fees owed
$700 - car insurance payment
ETA - the funds raised by this campaign so far helped Gwyd and Squirrel pay off some of their most immediately pressing expenses, and they continue to work on paying down the various bills. Unfortunately, since a lot of these are reoccuring expenses, and they have been snowballing, I've updated the fundraiser goal to reflect new expenses they are trying to pay off. This is the current breakdown:
700 - still needed for past-due HOA payments
400 - car insurance
700 - upcoming property tax for 2015
600 - assorted delinquent bills
I've also added a hundred dollars to the goal to help cover cat food, since almost all of Gwyd and Squirrel's income is going directly to bills.

We'd like to offer some rewards for folks who can help out! I've created a special cartoon cat bookmark for this fundraiser, and if you contribute ten dollars or more, I'll email you a high-resolution file of this picture, to print and cut out as many copies as you like!
Gwyd reads tarot, and can take on several readings via email. Ze describes these as brutally honest readings, with a deck of zir own design, an animal oracle deck, or the Thoth deck. I also have a very silly cartoon deck I made, and ze is willing to try that out, too. In an email reading, ze will need to chat via with you a bit to get a feel for you and your question, and then send you the results! Ze says that these readings will need to be fulfilled as health and inspiration allows, and might take a week or two.
I ran a live art stream and created tiny animal pictures in watercolor and ink! Each piece varies in size, but they are all a few inches. I've added a reward level where I will randomly select one of these critters and mail them to you! Your critter will arrived cut out and laminated, so you can use it as a bookmark, carry it in your wallet, or put it up somewhere to lend a little cheer!
