Kaylee's India Medical Mission

My name is Kaylee, I am a senior in high school in Colorado. Over the past few years, I have been involved in things like dance, piano, National Honor Society, and journalism at my school. For the past two years, my cousin has taken a trip to Kolkata, India with a medical mission team through Restoration Community Church, and this year, I was given the opportunity to join her on her mission.  

Our medical team works in 5 slums in Kolkata, conducting medical clinics in these slums daily for a week. We treat minor injuries and illnesses, pass out eyeglasses, offer dental care, and also public health training. The people there are in so much need and are always so grateful for the care. 

Some people ask " Why go to India when we have so much need right here in our own heighborhoods?" The answer is this; The Dalits do not have programs and services available to them. They are discarded and unnoticed and aren't even recognized as citizens by their own government.  You can rape and kill a Dalit and no one would bat an eyelash. These are human beings, sons and daughters, and they deserve to know they matter. The experience of visiting the slums in India will be something I will never forget and it will impact me for life.  

I am asking you to join me on my trip and support me in my efforts to make a difference to these impoverished people.  My goal is to raise $3500 for my expenses and every little bit helps. Also words of encouragement and prayer are very supportive and valued.
