Coins for Connor

On February 23rd 2014 Lanie Crawford adopted Connor, a dog from the pound. While Connor was actually adopted by another family they soon were unable to keep him, and he would have been returned to the pound. This makes him a double rescue. Lanie and Connor are inseperable, and when she counts her blessings she counts him twice.
It is estimated that 2.7 million adoptable pets are euthanized in shelters every year. This is largely due to an overpopulation of animals. There is no way that these animals can live humanely in these facilities- especially when they are underfunded.
What is really sad is that shelter animals are great pets! Connor came neutered, house trained, and knew basic commands. He knows how to walk on a leash and fetch. Many shelter animals even come microchipped incase they ever get lost. On top of this it is estimated that 25% of shelter animals are pure bred, making them very desirable.
October 7th is Connor's birthday, and of course Lanie was excited and bought him birthday presents. While shopping at the local pet store she began thinking about what her life would be like without Connor- or what his life would be like without her. She began thinking about all the animals who wouldn't get to see their next birthday, and really wanted to do something about it. Thus, Coins for Connor was born.
To celebrate Connor's birthday this month Coins for Connor will be collecting change around Appalachian State University's campus as well as monetary donations online on this page. 100% of all money collected will be donated to Watauga County Humane Society to help give the pets that come there care, medical attention, and possible extra time to find a forever home.
Any donation amount is appreciated! Connor is so excited to help animals like him find their home just like he did.
