Hi,
My name is Wigberto Maldonado and I am the Vice President of the ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) of the Electrical & Computer Engineering Department from the University of Puerto Rico. It is December and many of us will be celebrating Christmas with our dear loved ones, exchanging gifts, decorating our houses with adornments, and celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.
Unfortunately, this is not the case for everyone. This year, the School Director for the "Fe y Alegria" (spanish for Faith & Happiness) school contacted our faculty advisor seeking funds to help her give presents to these children on Christmas. The school is located in Santo Domingo which is the capital and largest city of the Dominican Republic. This school has sponsors in the Domincan Republic but due to the strong economic crisis that we are all facing, most of their sponsors have backed out. It is for this reason that they are seeking funds to give gifts to these children on Christmas.
A simple donation of $5 is enough to buy gifts for up to 4 or 5 children. With your donation, hundreds of kids from this school will receive Christmas presents and you will get the chance to be part of that child's joy! You have no idea how a basketball can change a kids life. The joy on their faces when they receive a gift is just priceless. And if you have supported causes like these before, then you know what it feels like to see a child smile on Christmas!
