Charitable Computing

Donation protected
Computers have become integrated into almost every aspect of our daily life. From employment, to education and social elements, computers have become vital to perform even menial tasks. Without one, and an individual will find themselves unable to get a good job, participate in school, or communicate with services that they need. We are looking to change that.

Charitable Computing was developed with one idea in mind, to bring computers to those who need them most. This is done in a number of ways: by providing computers to individuals in need and other charitable organizations to distribute them as needed, by providing low cost computer repairs and sales (proceeds of which go towards the free computers previously mentioned), and by teaching people how to use them in the most efficient manner.

The current business model is fundamentally wrong. As it stands right now, if a charity or church needs a computer, they have to go to a retail store to buy one, or multiple units. Retail stores are looking to make a profit, and begrudgingly will do business, but have to take a loss. So, we have a not for profit organization having to shell out money and the for profit business not really making a profit. That is where we come in.

We can provide computers cheaper and faster than a retail store can. Not only that, but we have meticulously gone through the code of Windows 10 to have it run at full optimization on old machines. Finally, we are not in business to make money from selling computers. Our main proceeds come from donations from other organizations. They do not have to be monetary donations either, but our model is developed around taking computer donations and giving back tax credit, which could be for the original value of the computer.

Finally, we are helping the environment. Many people do not realize that it is in fact illegal to throw away old computer parts. They contain toxic chemicals that can pollute the soil and groundwater. If you want to dispose of computer parts, you have to take them to a recycling facility and many times pay money out to throw it away. Furthermore, if you are caught dumping computer parts, you could face fines and penalties as determined by your local government. So, instead of throwing out your old stuff and having to pay to do so, why wouldn’t you want to give it to someplace that you can not only know it is going to good use, but also receive tax credit for it?

Now, to do all of this, we need your help. We have done all of the groundwork, but need to raise funds to become a full Not-for-Profit organization. It’s kind of a Catch-22, because we can’t accept donations and offer tax credit, but we also can’t afford to file for the designation without raising funds.

So, will you get some fancy t-shirt? No.
Maybe a mousepad? Nope.
A thank you letter? Yeah, I could probably do that.

But what you will get is a sense of pride in knowing that you made a difference in the world, even if it just a little bit. This all started out as a promise I made to a dying woman… and no matter what, it will get done. The question is, do you want to help us out?
