Ace's Vet Bills

Donation protected
Brandyn and I are the kind of people who raise pets instead of children.

We got our baby, Ace, five years ago from a rescue agency and he has been an inseperable part of our family ever since. Ace has survived some amazing scenarios, from being left in a box under a house as a kitten, to managing to find his way into a dresser drawer for a whole afternoon.

In the beginning of May, we lost Ace's brother, Kenobi, very suddenly to heart disease. This was Ace's latest hardship, and while he has been a trooper, it has affected him the way it affected me and my husband: hard.

So you can imagine our devastation when Ace's weight started to drop and he began vomitting after meals. At first we thought it may have been just stress from losing his brother, but after a few weeks of a listless cat who was normally spunky, we decided to take Ace to the vet.

Ace's bloodwork just came back revealing that his urinary proteins and kidney levels were higher than normal for a cat his age. This could mean one of two things for our baby: either he has urinary bladder stones, or kidney stones.

While this sounds like it may not be that serious for a human, it can be very serious for a cat. Without being treated, Ace's condition could worsen very suddenly as his body will be unable to remove waste blocked by the stones.

The good news is, we have time to correct it. We are hoping for your help to fund Ace's continued diagnoses and treatment. Sadly, there are very few ways to completely cure urinarybladder or kidney stones, so we will need to monitor and treat Ace for a long time.

Your donation will help to cover:

- An x-ray to help determine which organs are affected
- An ultrasound to better understand the size of the stones
- Possible surgery, if needed
- Post-surgery treatment
* Continued x-rays every 6 months if surgery is not required

$2500 would cover the cost of surgery if needed, but of course are hoping it should not come to that. However, if surgery is not needed, Ace will require an extensive vet visit twice a year for a new x-ray and ultrasound to determine if the stones have moved or become larger.

We will know more after we are able to get Ace his first couple treatments, and we will always hope for the best.

Please consider lending Ace a paw - we can't bear to lose another baby.
