Derek Harrison Benefit Fund

Derek Harrison tragically lost his life on Sunday, July 27 at the young age of 21. Derek was a talented basketball player and youth coach with a promising career at a car dealership where he worked closely with his grandfather, uncle and brother . Always smiling, he was a gentle spirit who had a passion for life and those around him. With his kindness, humor and athleticism, he was able to touch so many different people during his short life. Derek will be remembered as a loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, friend, co-worker and coach.

His family needs our help to put him to rest. Their family has endured so much through the years including his single mother currently battling breast cancer. Derek's father passed away when he was one and Shannon raised him and his brother Trevor alone until she remarried when they were in elementary school. At that time she had twin girls, Serena and Samantha, to complete her family. She has since divorced and lost her home during her cancer struggle. Shannon has had to work during her cancer treatments and now while grieving over her son. We would like to raise enough money for her to pay for all of Derek's memorial expenses and to have time for her and her family to mourn their loss.

There will be a celebration of Derek's life on August 9, 2014 at Glacier Peak High School at 1:00 p.m. In honor of Derek, the family asks that you wear your favorite sports jersey or any of your GP attire.
