Put a Roof Over Cate's Head

Cate just bought a house (which is a) amazing and b) took all her savings).  Three weeks later, her insurance company told her that in order to keep insuring her, she would have to replace the roof.  Cate protested - her inspector said nothing needed doing right away - but the insurance company held firm.   The roof has to be done this fall or Cate loses her insurance.

Cate got estimates, and selected a bid - it's going to cost $8500 to do this thing.  She's borrowed against her retirement, and is saving every last penny she can, but is still $1000 short.

It's a luxury to own a roof (and the walls that hold it up), and Cate is cognizant of how lucky she is.  She is, nevertheless, is in an absolute bind, needing this done but flat stoney broke upon broke.  Friends suggested Go Fund Me as a possible solution.
