Carson Johnson and Family

Hello all! My name is Hannah and I am creating this page to ask for help for a young man and family very near and dear to my heart. So here's their story. My boyfriend's younger brother Carson is 16 years old. He is an excellent example of what a young Christian man should be! He is very active in church and was recently elected chaplain for his high school FFA chapter. He is also an avid football and baseball player. This past football season, he started experiencing some numbness and tingling down his arm from what was believed to be a football related injury. However, after going for an MRI his doctors discovered that it was not a football related injury. Carson was diagnosed with Arnold Chiari Malformation with a syrnix.  Arnold Chiari is where the cerebellum and brain stem extend down onto the spinal cord which can cause multiple symptoms such as pain in the lower back of the head or neck, problems with balance and coordination, dizziness, swallowing difficulties, and sleep apnea among others. A syrinx results when a watery, protective substance known as cerebrospinal fluid collects in a small area of the spinal cord and forms a pseudocyst. A syrnix can eventually lead to permanent damage to the spinal cord if it is not removed as well as pain, weakness, numbness, and stiffness in the back, neck, legs, or arms, headaches, and the loss of the ability to feel extreme heat or cold, especially in the hands. Carson will be having multiple tests done as well as a corrective surgery sometime in July. His family will be traveling from their home in Calhoun Falls to Greenville for multiple doctor visits, which is nearly a 2 hour drive, one way. His surgery will be in Greenville as well and will require a stay in the hospital for a few days. I am asking for donations of any amount to help out this wonderful family with travel expenses as well as any medical expenses not covered by insurance. Any amount, big or small, will be graciously appreciated!
