Caring for Carlin (Medical Expenses)

Thank you for visiting Carlin's page.  We appreciate your support.  Soon after birth, Carlin was diagnosed with several major health issues but the likely culprit behind many of them is something so rare that it doesn't have a name:

7Q3 (32-36) proximal interstitial chromosome deletion – There are syndromes that people have such as Down’s Syndrome or Turner’s Syndrome which results from either an extra or missing piece of a chromosome. Carlin’s deletion is so rare that no syndrome exists. She is the only one in the world who has it. There are children that have similar issues, but she is truly unique. We do not know what this means for her future. We do know that several of her health issues are more than likely caused by the deletion. Some children with chromosome deletions have serious health and developmental issues and some are mildly affected. Each child is different, and only Carlin will tell us what her future holds.

Carlin's medical issues are frequent and ongoing and require numerous hospital stays.  Mom and Dad have taken off every possible day of work (they work for the same company) that they can and exhausted all paid leave long ago.
