Cards for Courage-Iowa

Hello my name is Nina Wilson! For the past five years my mom and I have been continuing a project called Cards for Courage. We have sent over 15,000 cards since our beginnings and this year we are hoping to send 6500 cards. For this, though, we need help covering the shipping costs. We send to bases in North Carolina, Georgia, Texas, and Alaska. These bases have either requested for cards or we have chosen them for specific reasons.
This started five years ago after watching a Hallmark commercial... and we sent only 200 cards, since then, though, it has been growing. My mother, Sharon, helps me especially through communication with the bases we are sending to and organization. She used to be a penpal with many people fighting overseas and she noticed that when they returned home they felt rather invisible and unappreciated. They were struggling with adjusting to civilian life and battling symptoms of PTSD. Our hopes through doing this is to affect someones life positively. Although it is just small a card that is handwritten, colorful, and with something inside of it, can be a sign to someone that people care. Who knows, it could even save a life.
We must send the cards out by Thanksgiving, but we will be continuing this project for years to come!
