Cañon City High School AJROTC

Cañon City, CO- 

OUR STORY:  We are the Instructors at Cañon City High School Army JROTC, and we would like to tell you a little something about our amazing students.  The cadets who make up our competitive teams practice before and after school 5 days a week as well as many weekends.  To date they have participated in many competitions to include military drill, color guard, academics, physical fitness and air rifle.  With each competition, they are just getting better and better. They have literally left their blood, sweat and tears on the the drill floor, running track or rifle range.  

 As a result of their heart and soul performances, the rifle team has qualified for the JROTC National Championship, held at Camp Perry, Ohio, on March 21-25.  The rifle team has also qualified to compete in the CMP and Junior Olympic National Championships, also held at Camp Perry, Ohio, on June 20-24.  We recently received word that our adademic team has qualified for the JLAB Championship in Washington, DC, in June.  Our drill team and color guard will be traveling across the state of Colorado for more drill meets this spring.  Additionally, our Raider Platoon will be competing in the sport of orienteering from April through June.

WE NEED YOUR HELP:  At this time, our unit lacks the funds ($7,000) to get these well deserving students to these championship meets which they have more than earned the right to compete in. Unfortunately, over 50% of our students are on free or reduced lunch and the school is not currently in a position to assist us financially.  In the spirt of the Tiger Battalion, we are asking every parent, family member, friend and the community of Cañon City and beyond, to donate $10 or more. 

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for our students!  Please remember, these kids have earned the right to represent themselves, their unit, their school and the Cañon City community, it is our job to get them into the arena to compete.   

We are asking everyone associated with these kids to reach out to everyone they know to help make their dreams come true.
