On Saturday, November 17, 2018, Sky Mendoza's life changed forever when she was involved in a car accident that claimed the life of her pregnant stepmother, and left her paralyzed from the neck down. Sky, who is 17 years old and a stage four paraplegic, spent 18 months in a rehabilitation facility and now shares a small apartment with her father and brother in Middletown NY.
After seeing Sky’s desperate need for help, The City of Middletown recently donated a 0.15 acre site to a trust set up for Sky. The Mendoza family is now looking to raise $130,000 to build a wheelchair accessible home for the family of three.
