Send Freddy to School!

Greetings;

You can call me Freddy; I’m a 20 year old, disabled non-binary person. I have an increasingly stressful school situation.

I had a rough start at school for two main reasons: a slew of undiagnosed mental disorders that required academic accommodations, and coming from a poor background, while the bulk of the students at my school were from rich families. My family lost their insurance, so I had to be on the school’s while I was there. I had to get a job on campus in order to have any money to spend at all. In order to keep up with my coursework I had to borrow books from the local libraries.

Last year, I had to take a mandatory health leave. Because of the stress of my home situation, combined with the effects of a necessary medication interacting with my undiagnosed and as yet untreated bipolar disorder, my weight dropped to eighty-seven pounds. Not being properly treated plus constant stress plus a stimulant had sent me into a manic episode, so I couldn’t eat or leave my studies, nor even my room. Eventually, I isolated so deeply, I nearly died.

When I was rushed to the ER then stuck in an in-patient psychiatric unit, I was mandated to leave school to recover. They gave me one day immediately after I was released just a week later to clear out my dorm, still in a pretty critical condition. If it weren’t for my mother rushing up to the northeast last minute to help me (somehow, since she has no money), I would have been in even more dire straits.

At any rate, I was mandated to maintain a relationship with a psychologist and attend a 4-year-college elsewhere for a semester in order to return with my full scholarship. I was told my school would probably be available to help me with finances and such since I had no money and they knew it; but after attending a local university and trying to touch bases with them concerning money, I’ve realized they had no real intention to help in the first place. I had to drop out before I could be penalized.

I’ve been job searching for nearly a year now, with no sign of any luck coming any time soon. I’ve even tried applying at the company my significant other works at and talking to their boss about being hired as a temp. Both temp agencies I tried to work through have ultimately stopped connecting with me about jobs. I have no income and no savings, so I cannot utilize my savings to do this. Once again, my family has no money, so I cannot borrow from them. Getting a loan is a horrible idea, since I have no income and no sign of getting a regular, substantial one anytime soon. It looks to be hopeless, getting back to school and continuing with my life. I’ve applied for disability benefits and medicaid and been denied for both because I’m not considered ‘disabled enough’. I could not even manage to get food stamps, despite having little to no income.

I’ve tried everything from applying to every job I qualify for, doing online surveys, and selling services over the internet to get money, but all are slow at best and fruitless at worst. I’m hopelessly stuck and I need help. I’m running out of options. All this pain and stress is getting to me, because I only need to get 6 credit hours from a university and yet it’s seemingly impossible.

I need help: taking six credit hours will cost me $4,579.90 at the nearest 4-year university (University of Missouri Kansas City). The remaining money will be used for books and necessary supplies. I don’t need any money for living off campus or for food; I am living in an otherwise decent situation and the only thing I need help with is school.

Thank you for your time.

The donor fronting the most amount of money will also be getting a digital art piece from me; depending on how much I get, there may be more winners. I would like to offer something for the people that help me most, since this is a huge favor for me and I’d like to display my gratitude.
