Buck$ for Buck Norris Memorial

May 29, 2015 was a sad day with news of the death of Bend, Oregon's much-loved unofficial mascot, "Buck Norris."
The infamous, most photographed mule deer in Central Oregon was easily recognizable by his downturned antler. He fearlessly roamed the roads and yards around town and made friends across the region.
Road crews found him after an accident the morning of the 29th.
Let's give Buck the memorial he deserves for bringing so many of us so much joy and awe over the years.
This gofundme is to raise money to have a bronze sculpture made of him … hopefully to be added to one of the roundabout art displays around town, to be enjoyed by all… or somewhere else the City may deem appropriate. The one at Century Dr and Simpson, which already has several deer, would be perfect.
Unfortunately, the Montana artist of "Big Ears" - Joe Halko died 6 years ago. But, there are certainly others that could be commissioned to do it.
I don't know the cost of bronze sculptures of that size, but the price of "Big Ears" was over $30,000 15 years ago. However, there are several deer. So I'm setting the original goal at $5,000… and will update it if needed.
Please share and let's do this for Buck - so future generations can enjoy him as much as we have over the past decade.
