We have awesome news 8/5/14 we got the call yesterday from Hayden's transplant doctor and he has 6 perfect matches!!!! We are looking at the first of September to start his procedure

Hayden Watkins is an 8 year old boy son of Kim and Glen Watkins. Hayden was diagnosed at birth with adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD) which is several closely related inherited disorders that disrupt the breakdown (metabolism) of certain fats (very-long-chain fatty acids). On July 8th Hayden was diagnosed with childhood ALD. He has a legion on his brain that is deteriorating his brain. The only way to save Hayden is to get him a stem cell or bone marrow transplant which is done at the University of Minnesota. If we can't find a match or the transplant doesn't take Hayden has two to four years before he would end up in a vegetative state leading to death. Our Michigan Medicaid won't pay in Minnesota which is one of only 5 hospitals that do that transplants on ald boys. We are doing these benefits in order to raise money for these absolutely needed procedures and living expenses while we are at the hospital 5-7 months. We will need to stay in Minneapolis MN> when he receives a donor while he goes through chemo, transplant and at least 100+ days of recovery staying within 25 minutes of the hospital in Minneapolis.
