Reclaim the Night Brighton 2014

Donativo protegido
In 2012, Brighton Feminist Collective staged the city's first Reclaim the Night march for decades. Hundreds of people marched through Brighton to assert everyone's right to feel safe on the streets at night. Last year we returned bigger and better than ever, in no small part down to donations from kind hearted people from Brighton and further afield.

Preperations are now underway for our 2014 event that will be held on Saturday 15th of November at the Sallis Benney Theatre on Grand Parade. As in previous years the event will consist of a march through the streets of Brighton, ending at our venue for a rally with guest speakers, performers, stalls, and short films. Every year we nominate two charities that we raise money for at the event, this year we've chosen local charity Survivors' Network and the National Ugly Mugs Scheme run by the UK Network of Sex Work Projects (UKNSWP)

What we will spend your donations on:
- Venue hire
- Travel costs for our guest speakers
- A sign language interpreter
- Safety equipment for the march (lights, hight-vis-jackets, etc)
- Publicity
- After party
- After covering event costs the rest of the donations will be split   between our nominated charities

More details will be relased over the coming weeks so put the date in your diary and stay tuned! In the mean time, we need you to help us take a stand against street harassment, abuse and violence - we're asking anyone who can afford to help us, even if it's only a pound or two, to donate. We are a volunteer-run group, so everything we do comes out of our own pockets. We would be immensely grateful if you could help us put on the biggest, best feminist march Brighton has ever seen!

(A note: GoFundMe has a minimum of £5 donation on their pages. We realise that not everyone can spare that much, so feel free to come along to a meeting and give us your change!)

Please help spread the word and share this page!

Brighton Feminist Collective welcomes everyone on our Reclaim the Night marches. You can check out our Statement of Intent and Facebook page for more information. If you'd like to get involved with organising, our meetings are every Thursday from 7-9pm in Milk No Sugar on Trafalgar Street - all welcome. We'll also be hosting regular meetings specifically for planning Reclaim the Night as we get closer to November...
