20,000 children are homeless in NYC today and most of them are impatiently waiting for their secret Santa. Hurricane Sandy aggravated this housing situation by displacing many families from their homes.
Our goal this Christmas season is a "Brighter Christmas for Homeless children" in NYC by providing toys for children affected by Hurricane Sandy, by donating gift baskets to single mothers at a women's shelter with necessary items for their children under the age of 3 and by sponsoring a Christmas dinner at a shelter for the homeless. In order to reach our goal, we are conducting this fundraising campaign with the hopes of making a difference in their lives.
Based on our estimates, this project will be realized if we raise $8,970 as broken down below:
$10 avg / toy for roughly 500 kids: $5,000
$104 metrocards for 30 homeless working mothers: $3,120
$25 gift baskets for 20 homeless mothers w/ infants: $500
Sponsor Christmas dinner at homeless shelter: $380
Total: $9,000
