You Can Help Deliver Courage and Comfort to a Newly Diagnosed Breast Cancer Patient with Your Kindess and Generosity!

My name is Melissa and I'm on a mission to brighten the lives of women with breast cancer by giving them some really incredible survival tools that I (along with many others) wished I'd been given when I began my fight with breast cancer.

A little bit about me...

At the age of 37 I discovered a lump in my breast while taking a shower.  Within 2 weeks of seeing my doctor, undergoing my first mammogram, an ultrasound, followed by several biopsies, a couple MRI's and another biopsy I was given the diagnosis of IDC (Invasive Ductal Carcinoma) breast cancer. I had no family history.  I underwent a bilateral mastectomy and reconstruction followed.

During my recovery I had friends and family who sent things to lift my spirits and brighten my days.  And you know that's exactly what they did.  My spirits were lifted, I gained a renewed strength and will to fight each time I received something meant to provide me with a little love and comfort.

Today I can say I am proud that I am a breast cancer SURVIVOR. It's a tremendous challenge to get through the battle with cancer.  It's so much more than killing the cancer and recovering physically.  It changes every part of you - and it's not easy to accept this reality with open arms.

Every woman's journey through cancer is unique.  But I can tell you that after going through this journey firsthand, there is one undeniable thing we all have in common.  We need to be BRAVE!

Bravery is often encouraged by the love and support of family and friends.  Unfortunately, family and friends don't always understand what it is you're really going through deep down inside.  They mean well, but they often don't know what you truly need.

This is why I started Brave Girl Boxes!

A little bit about BGB...

I created Brave Girl Boxes in an effort to support women who have just been told they have breast cancer. The boxes are intended to deliver love, encouragement, hope, understanding, nourishment, connection and comfort. Women need to feel that they are not alone so they can bravely move forward and fight and these boxes include items that other survivors found very beneficial in their fight.

Brave Girl Boxes is a way for women to feel, trust and see that people are rooting for their survival! People who have been there, people they have never even met before perhaps.  After all, if you're going into battle, you need the proper tools to stay strong, to be positive and to feel empowered and who better to select the tools than women who know exactly what you need?

Each box is assembled with tremendous love and care and may or may not contain similar items. We are entirely funded by product donations and financial contributions and no recipient shall ever be charged for the box they receive.

Friends and family of breast cancer patients may choose to generously donate the cost of a box or a portion of the cost as a token of appreciation. The average COST of a Brave Girl Box is around $75 plus shipping but the VALUE of a Brave Girl Box is PRICELESS!

A little bit about my inspiration and goals...

During my journey and fight, I reminded myself over and over again that I just needed to BE BRAVE! I know this project can help other women BE BRAVE too!

Funding for this project will support multiple needs.  But to list a few, it will cover the cost of maintaining our website, any contents we purchase at retail or discount that are to be included in each box/shipment, shipping and packing expenses, promotional marketing materials and advertising, office supplies and anything else found necessary to fulfill the mission of Brave Girl Boxes.

I hope these boxes will one day be received across the world and be recognized as a spirited gift of encouragement and love in order to help heal the trauma we all experience as a result of breast cancer. It is my ultimate wish that each recipient finds a tiny vacation from reality inside each box.  They are so very much in need of a little respite and restoration in order to battle on!

Every donor is encouraged to send our office a card or postcard with a positive message of hope, joy and peace so that we can place it inside each "Brave Girl Box".

Fulfilling this dream with your help is something I'm truly looking forward to.  Together we can help women with breast cancer experience a break from overwhelming negativity that cancer inherintely has. The "Brave Girl Box" unwrapped can deliver an endless amount of love and relief to each amazing woman that receives one.

Thank you to all "Angel Donors" for your thoughtfulness, consideration and generosity.  That is exactly what you are, Angels.
