Hello to all my wonderful friends/family/whoever may randomly stumble upon this. I am setting up this GoFundMe account with great regret and humility. It is my last best chance to fulfill my dream to graduate from The Boston Conservatory. As most of you know, musical theatre has been my passion since I was 7 years old. I have always considered myself one of the luckiest people in the world to not only have found that passion at such a young age, but to have also had such tremendous support from both my friends and family.
One of the greatest days of my life occurred when I was accepted into the BFA musical theatre program at BoCo nearly two years ago. This school has seen some amazing talent over the years, with alumni performing in Broadway shows, national tours, cruise ships, theme parks, as well as TV and film. The training I have received thus far has been nothing short of life-changing. I find myself in class on some days from 8 in the morning to 7 o’ clock at night. The Conservatory puts a big emphasis on its students becoming well-rounded as both performers and human beings. Our days are filled with various types of acting, music, dance, and liberal arts classes. The school also provides many performing opportunities in both mainstage and black-box productions in order to put our daily lessons to work. We get to interact with professionals who have had many different kinds of experiences working in the theatre, and who strongly believe that every single one of us has the chance to be successful. I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Not only have I discovered so much about myself as a performer and an artist, but also about who I am as a person; how I work, how I hold myself in the world, etc. This school has provided me with confidence that I never knew I had, while also providing me with the proper tools I need to “make it” (as they say in show biz) in a such a lively, competitive, but incredibly fulfilling profession. While this school has been an emotional roller coaster, it has helped me to see that in order to get what you want, you have to work for it. I’ve worked very hard to maintain my 3.8 GPA and stay on top of my practice. To top it all off, I have met so many amazing people who inspire me every day to be the best that I can be. I have made friends that I know will have for the rest of my life.
Going forward into my junior year at the Conservatory, my family finds themselves financially unable to pay for this upcoming semester. I have never done anything like this before, and I never thought that I would have to. Those of you who know me know that I hate asking people for anything. We’ve taken out student loans, the school has been very generous in providing me with a small scholarship, but with all of our financial recourses exhausted, I am faced with reaching out to all of you. If I don’t raise the money for my tuition by August 31st, I will not be able to continue.
I need to raise approximately $20,000 to begin my third and most important year at BoCo. Yes, I know that this goal seems rather impossible, and I know that I am asking for a lot in such a short amount of time, but I can’t tell you how heartbroken I would be if I cannot continue my dream and further my education in a field that I love so much and for which has been my passion for so long. If you choose to give any amount, please don’t think of it as a donation, but rather as an investment in my future as a performer. If you choose to invest in me, I have no doubt that I will be successful. All contributions both financially and emotionally no matter what size will be so incredibly helpful and appreciated. And in doing so, I promise to pay every single dollar forward as I work to further my success in this field and to help other young actors who have big dreams like me. It is my vow to not let any of you down, and to use your support as my motivation through and through to constantly work hard and become the best version of me that I can be.
