Telgahr's double knee Surgery

Donation protected
This site has been created for my dog Telgahr. He is my first rescue dog and is AMAZING.  The shelter that I had adopted him from had never told me he was born with with a bone deformity in his rear legs. His femur and tibia dont fit together at his knees. So, when he moves they slide out of the joints tearing all his knee ligaments (like ACL's). So, He needs a special surgery to recontour the bones, use pins/plates to put them in place properly then repair his ACL ligaments. This surgery is called a TPLO.

He was *very* neglected when I came to adopt him, underweight, weak, mange and could hardly get up let alone play or do dog like things due to pain. We have tried everything from vitamins to knee braces and he still is so frail with them.

I have been dutiful and gentle in his care. However, most the time he cant walk after a short very much needed trip to the dog park (despite braces). So, I had to draw the line in the sand. This dog PERFECT behavior. Loving, cuddly, doesnt bark or chew, no aggresion what so ever, great at resteraunts, well trained, friends homes, children (even special needs/autism) and other animals. (dogs, cats, horses and birds) He deserves to not be in pain anymore.  My fiance' and I love him desperatly, we just cant afford the $8,000 in surgery he needs. I have sought the opinion of three vets. I am hoping and praying with ever fiber that we can raise the money though this.

Now, against my better judgment I will relay a more personal story. Telgahr has in many ways saved me emotionally. I was going through one of the hardest times in my life medically. He kept me company during all my treatments and frustrated tears. He was the first dog to mend my broken heart after my last dog.  My last dog, Falcor, died in a car wreck with me a couple of years ago. He was flung from my truck when it hydroplanned and despite my shock I ran to him and like any mother would. I picked him up despite traffic and him biting into me due to pain from a fracture pelvis. I held him and sobbed as he bled and went into shock. People arrived and he went to the emergency vet while I went for my own medical care. I want to fight for Telgahr just as much, and more, as I did for Falcor. I think he deserves a rousing fight and a hurrah.
